March 2008, Protective Clothing Campaign
For the first time in almost six years, the TAC launched a motorcycle safety campaign promoting the importance of protective clothing for all riders.
The ad begins with the aftermath of a motorbike crash at the scene. We then see the victim lying in the operating theatre at the Austin Hospital with a Doctor talking to the audience about the mans injuries and how it could have been prevented. In the background the victim is moaning with pain as the nurses and doctors remove pieces of denim from his wounds.
The public education campaign asked riders “What’s between you and the operating theatre?”. This campaign was developed to highlight the risks associated with riding without the appropriate protective clothing and focuses on two key rider groups; motorcyclists and scooter riders.
The ads take on a reality television show feel similar to RPA, beginning with the aftermath of a road crash.
